Patrick Delany, the CEO of Foxtel, mischievously pursued Clarke while keeping an eye on the group at the Sydney introduction of “Spot of the Dragon.” Before the screening began, Delany let the group in on that he might have managed without “GoT” at every turn, according to Australian media source Crikey.

“I was like, ‘What’s this show with the short, dumpy young woman walking around the fire?’” he expressed, alluding to a famous scene in season 1 of the show that focused in on Clarke’s character Daenerys Targaryen .

The group was evidently staggered. “It appeared as though he was guessing that we ought to laugh along, but people in the room were obviously shocked by it,” one individual told Crikey. “There was an all around gasp.”

As shock spread about Delany’s remarks, Foxtel stepped in to give a concession of sorts for the wellbeing of its CEO.

“The Foxtel Group apologizes in case his remarks were misjudged and caused any offense,” an association delegate said in a decree, per The Wrap.

“The point was to convey that for him, ‘Rounds of Thrones’ was something different for TV in 2011 and that Emilia Clarke went from decently dark to perhaps of the most seen and most-loved performer in TV and film,” they added.

Neither Clarke nor her representatives have remarked with respect to this issue.
