So, as a whole, it affects the Gallery App. Also, as mentioned above downloading any APK from unofficial sources can also lead to crashing issue. In another case, if it is a system induced bug, then users should look for some update that is meant to fix the Gallery App. If there is an update meant for it and you have not installed the same, the bug will persist and the crashing may happen.

To fix gallery keeps crashing issue we will use some simple troubleshooting methods. Also, in case they don’t work we will try a device reset. You can find all the methods below in details.

Let’s see the various methods that we can use to solve this recurring issue. Before performing any make sure you back up your photos, videos, and other media files. You may transfer temporarily to your PC or any cloud storage system. Effecting any modification on the App may erase the data. So, it’s better to back it up. Then you can try out the troubleshooting methods mentioned below.

Check for System Update or Dedicated App Update

People usually miss this one out. First of all check the system update. If there is any system induced bug it will be more or less happening with most of the other users out there too. Try to get the changelog of the system update that usually rolls from the OEM. In the changelog, if it mentions any fixing Gallery App crash, then install the update.

Otherwise, go to Play store > Apps and Games > Check or updates. Check for dedicated App update availability or else perform an update to all the Apps. The system update should fix the Gallery App crash.

Wipe Out System Cache Partition

This method is not a difficult one. Quite easier to follow. Usually, system cache has the temporary system data that helps us to access the Apps quickly. The Apps that we frequently access, its related data are stored in the system cache. So,  sometime on frequent use

To clear the system cache,

  • Switch off your phone
  • Press and hold Power button + Volume up + Home button together.
  • When Phone Vibrates let go of the power button only.
  • Now Android System Recovery screen will show up
  • Release the other two buttons.
  • Now you will see certain options in a vertical manner.
  • Use the Volume + or Volume – to scroll through the options.
  • Scroll up to wipe system cache partition option.
  • Use the Power Buton to select and initiate the wipeout.
  • It may take a few moments to complete
  • Then again Android System Recovery screen will show up.
  • Select Reboot System Now option to restart the device.

Now run your device. It should fix the issue and Gallery App crash should not happen.

You may also try clearing the cache of the Gallery App individually. This process will reset the App and if there is any minor issue in the cache data that may cause the crashing, should now be resolved.

To do it,

  • Go to Settings > App Info > All Apps.
  • Scroll for Gallery. Tap to open it.
  • Then tap on Storage > Clear Cache.
  • If you see a pop-up asking to confirm the Data clear, tap on OK to confirm.
  • Restart your phone to finish the process.

Factory Reset The Device

When everything else fails, carry this out. Never factory reset for small issues. First of all, confirm that you have got a backup of your files in the Gallery App. A factory reset will take the device back to the state as it was fresh out-of-the-box.

  • Switch your device off.
  • Press and hold Power button + Volume up + Home button together.
  • Release the power button only when device vibrates.
  • Now you will see the Android System Recovery screen.
  • Release the volume up and home buttons.
  • Use the Volume + or Volume – to scroll through the options.
  • You will see the Factory Reset option. Select it using the power button.
  • You will get a prompt asking permission for removing complete user data.
  • Comply and Press the power button to perform the factory reset.
  • It will take some time to finish.
  • Now after that Android System Recovery screen will show up.
  • Scroll to “Reboot system now” and press the power button to reboot.

Now your device will be back to the state like the very day your first bought and unboxed it. If there was any supposed bug causing the crashing of Gallery App, it should be gone for good by now.
