I have created a list of some of the best and easiest store cards for you to get. Keep in mind that if you do get approved for any of these cards, make sure that you are responsible when using them. Credit cards of all kinds are exciting and can come in handy in challenging situations. The importance of maintaining one’s credit score isn’t always known right away. But opening a store card account is a great way to establish credit and young people while teaching them how to be financially responsible and independent members of the world and economics.
1. Old Navy
Not only does Old Navy offer approved applicants 20% off their first card purchase, but they also earn five times reward points per dollar spent on card purchases which can also be made and used with their partnering companies, GAP Inc., GAP, the Banana Republic, and Athleta. Cardholders don’t have an annual fee and will receive exclusive discounts and sales throughout the year.
2. Kohl’s
One of my faves, Kohl’s, has exclusive cardholder offers and discounts that can be used in-store or online each month. Offers like Kohl’s cash can come in handy, especially around school shopping and Holiday seasons. When you can rack up quite a bit back in Kohl’s cash! And still be able to have time to use it wrapping up those last-minute essential loose ends. This will save you a sizable amount of money! Kohl’s also doesn’t charge an annual fee.
3. Target REDcard
Target red card offers 5% cardholder discounts on items except for prescriptions and over-the-counter pharmacy items. They don’t have any rewards; however, you can use your 5% off right there at the register if you choose to. Or let it stack up for larger purchases in the future. As with the others, you don’t pay an annual fee and will also receive exclusive car holder-only benefits throughout the year.
4. Big Lots
There are not any rewards points offered with the big lots store card. They offer special financing on eligible purchases such as furniture and electronics with deferred interest on purchases over $250. Remember, though, after the 12 months; deferred interest will come at a 29.99% interest rate if the purchase is not paid off within the agreed-upon financing terms. Make this a good choice if you are looking for a deal and not a credit redemption scapegoat.
6. Express Next
The Express Next Card is excellent. Especially when updating your work wardrobe. Just make sure to save your receipts come tax time. On top of the nice write-off, Express also gives you the chance to rack up 7500 points in the program earning, which will make you a list status. What is a list status to ask? For every $125 spent, you will receive 2500 points which will unlock $10 in rewards that can be used in-store or online. When you rack up 7500 of these points, you will receive a list status, unlock free standard shipping for online orders and boost your reward value of $10 up to $15 per 2500 points! If you are someone that requires a chic, sophisticated look to your everyday work life and then I suggest applying for the Express Next card before your next wardrobe update.
7. Walmart
With the Walmart card, you can earn 1% cash back in Walmart stores and earn up to 3% cash back at walmart.com. And 2% back on Murphy USA and Walmart fill purchases. Being approved for this card isn’t the easiest of those options for low-scoring applicants; however, it is not unheard of either. And if you are approved, the 2% back on Walmart and Murphy USA fuel purchases and 1% cash back on other Walmart purchases will rip be redeemed in the form of a statement credit, which will help pay down or maintain your credit usage balance Which also allows you to maintain or regain a higher credit score.
8. Fingerhut
Fingerhut is one of the larger online retailers out there. They offer a ton of popular brands. And an easy application process. And you can get a credit decision there on the spot and use it for your purchase that same day. They specialize in closed-loop credit lines for shoppers with poor credit specifically, so the card is easier to obtain approval for. The applicants who don’t qualify for the( higher score needed) “Advantage Credit” account will automatically be evaluated for Fingerhut‘s “Fresh Start” installment loan instead. If you’re somebody just starting or starting over, Fingerhut is an excellent option as they do seem to approve just about everyone.
