A billboard advertising Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers revealed surprising information about the platforms that the game will launch ahead of Square Enix’s E3 2019 presentation. Sometimes, E3 leaks can come in the most unexpected places.
Information on the team-up between Square Enix and Marvel has been scarce leading up to Square’s presentation. The game was first teased back in December of 2017 as Avengers Project, but little else has been discussed. Last week, a new Twitter account launched and confirmed that Marvel’s Avengers would be the title and that more would be revealed during Square Enix’s E3 presentation on June 10. Fans near the LA Convention Center only needed to look up to find out more.
The official Twitter account for the game posted a photo of the banner that confirmed Marvel’s Avengers will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and the surprising addition of Google Stadia. The banner does not include any information on a release date, but does feature the tagline: “Embrace Your Powers.” Here’s the tweet from the game’s Twitter page that showcases the banner outside of the LA Convention Center:
Google Stadia has quietly been collecting an impressive library ahead of its launch. Destiny 2 was recently announced to join a launch lineup that includes games like Doom Eternal, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, The Division 2, and a new Tomb Raider trilogy. Outside of third party ports and new titles, Stadia also posted the first trailer for Gylt, the system’s lone exclusive to its YouTube channel. Google intended to reveal the pricing for Stadia via a livestream, but the information was leaked before that stream earlier this week.
Google Stadia continues to make impressive moves while facing plenty of speculation, especially after it was revealed that Stadia will use 1 TB of data in 65 hours and would include both a subscription and individual purchase of its games. While it may be hard to convince people who have already played games like Destiny 2 or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on console or PC to replay them in a browser, adding new games like Marvel’s Avengers or Doom Eternal shows that Google is confident enough in the experience Stadia can provide for those willing to take the plunge. Time will tell if Stadia can handle being in the same sphere as Xbox or PlayStation as a new generation of more consoles looms ever closer.
